Run of the Week

Ranaria

Forge your own legend in a world shaped by Los, ancient mysteries, and endless possibility.

Ranaria is a vast fantasy world shaped by Los, the fundamental substance from which physical existence is formed. Kingdoms, tribes, cities, temples, adventuring institutions, mercenary powers, monsters, and countless cultures compete, cooperate, and survive across its regions. Those who learn to manipulate Los can perform extraordinary techniques, but power is never guaranteed. Strength depends on talent, training, knowledge, opportunity, resources, and circumstance. Other disciplines and supernatural systems exist alongside Los Control, each with their own rules and limitations. Ranaria has no predetermined hero. Every player enters the world with their own origin, relationships, ambitions, talents, and problems. They may live quietly, become an adventurer, study the mysteries of Los, rise through society, build alliances, explore dangerous lands, challenge powerful warriors, or leave behind a legend entirely their own.

World premise

A playable world seed with consequences.

Ranaria is enormous, old, and filled with lives already in motion. Most people are ordinary. They work, trade, travel, worship, raise families, compete for status, fear monsters, and try to improve their lives. Some become warriors, scholars, monks, adventurers, mercenaries, artists, merchants, nobles, explorers, or practitioners of supernatural disciplines. The world is shaped by a substance known as Los. Everything physical is formed from Los, and certain people can learn to manipulate it through a discipline called Los Control. Those with enough knowledge and training can perform supernatural techniques, but true mastery is difficult and exceptional ability is rare. Ranaria contains far more than most people understand. Strange creatures, unusual civilizations, ancient ruins, hidden techniques, powerful institutions, Spiritahns, unexplored lands, and poorly understood phenomena exist throughout the world. You are not entering someone else’s story. You begin as a person of Ranaria with your own upbringing, abilities, relationships, opportunities, and ambitions. Nothing guarantees that you will become powerful, famous, wealthy, heroic, feared, or important. What you become depends on what you do.

Several adventuring contracts have recently produced reports that the dangers encountered were substantially different from what had been officially recorded.

Travelers from the frontier have begun reporting unusual creature activity and changes along routes that were previously considered dependable.

Several minor noble families are quietly competing for influence within the Unity Region.

Rumors suggest that an undocumented Technique has begun circulating privately among practitioners.

Locations

capital-city

Unity Capital

The largest political and commercial center of the region. Nobles, merchants, adventurers, scholars, foreign travelers, soldiers, Los practitioners, artists, and ordinary workers converge here. Opportunity is abundant, but wealth and influence are distributed unevenly.

urban-district

Guild Quarter

A dense district of guild halls, training yards, inns, equipment shops, job boards, healers, brokers, and businesses serving adventurers and traveling professionals. Many people seeking advancement eventually pass through here.

port-district

River Port

The region's major center for river trade and long-distance cargo. Warehouses, passenger vessels, merchant houses, labor crews, travelers, smugglers, and foreign goods make the port one of the most culturally mixed parts of the capital.

urban-outskirts

Outer Districts

Neighborhoods beyond the wealthiest parts of the capital where laborers, tradespeople, migrants, minor merchants, travelers, and struggling families live. Crime and poverty exist alongside strong local communities and inexpensive opportunities.

trade-road

High Road

A heavily traveled route connecting the capital with towns, farms, trading posts, and neighboring territories. Patrols keep the central stretches relatively safe, but distance from settlements increases the risk of robbery, dangerous wildlife, and monster encounters.

town

Crossroad Town

A prosperous settlement built where several important roads meet. Inns, stables, merchants, adventurers, traveling craftsmen, farmers, and information brokers make it a common stopping point for people moving through the region.

In a 1914 where the Great War is a sanctified trench crusade, you begin as an ordinary citizen in a crumbling urban tenement. From the smoke-clogged European capitals, you can rise from a simple laborer or farmer to become an inventor of war-engines or a titan of industry. Amidst the clatter of armored trains and the chanting of militarized monks, your ability to build factories, supply the front, or take up the sword allows you to seize the gears of fate and dramatically redirect the course of the 20th century.

The Demon Slayer Universe, 1820

Between 1935 and 1945, you can amass wealth in Reichsmarks, invent history-altering machinery, or build a personal industrial empire, all while balancing the rigid demands of a nation preparing for total war.

In March 1941, an unidentified celestial object impacted the Rhineland, carrying a mutagenic pathogen termed Necrosis Rabies. The infected are driven by a metabolic frenzy and must consume flesh to avoid expiration.
