World premise
A playable world seed with consequences.
The world of Japan in the Sengoku Jidai period. The unification of Japan is underway, but is struggling, as there are many invasions and surprise attacks from both sides. The unexpected is the only expected. Samurais thrive under their landlords. The opening weeks begin in a dense urban quarter shaped by day-to-day survival in the Owari-Mino Borderlands. Within the Jōkamachi streets, the air is thick with the smell of charcoal and the rhythmic clatter of armorers at work. While the Oda Clan eyes the horizon for their next conquest, the people within the castle walls navigate a landscape where a misplaced word to a magistrate or a failed rice tribute can mean immediate ruin. Here, the sharp divide between the Buke and the Chōnin is bridged only by the shared uncertainty of when the next siege bell will ring.
The demand for repaired blades is overwhelming the local armorers, creating a backlog of desperate warriors.
Local survival pressures are forcing families to choose between paying the rice tax or feeding their youngest.
Authority is tightened as the Oda Clan seeks out Ikkō-shū sympathizers hiding within the temple district.
Most opportunities for advancement depend on a letter of introduction, a hidden blade, or a well-placed bribe.
