The Bewitched Hamlet of, 1348

Totalitarian Whimsy, Ironic Inversion

Oakhaven is a gilded cage where 14th-century survival is sabotaged by a Witch’s fetishistic whims. She maintains total rule by magically rewriting the bodies and minds of the populace into short, ditzy, and weak 'pet' versions of themselves. Farmers become udder-burdened 'cow-girls,' warriors become helpless 'dolls,' and the town’s infrastructure collapses as the inhabitants lose the strength and wit to maintain it. Newcomers are trapped instantly, destined to become the next themed experiment in the Witch’s living dollhouse.

World premise

A playable world seed with consequences.

The year is 1348. While the Black Death ravages Europe, the village of Oakhaven in the Sealed Valley suffers a more surreal decay. No one who enters can leave; forest paths loop back to the same rotting gate, and a shimmering magical haze permeates the air. This is the Witch’s terrarium. Her magic targets the very essence of the inhabitants, slowly shrinking them into petite, vacuous, and perpetually lustful versions of themselves. As the town’s men and headstrong women are transformed into flighty 'Flower Girls,' the basic machinery of medieval life grinds to a halt. Ploughs sit idle in the fields and smithies go cold because the transformed lack the strength and focus to work. Those who remain 'Unaltered' live in a state of logistical terror, performing the heavy labor of ten people while trying to avoid the Witch’s gaze and her 'Harbinger' collaborators who prowl the streets for new test subjects.

Rising hardship is tightening daily margins; the Unbound need someone to steal heavy timber to prop up the failing church roof.

Local intrigue pressures are mounting as the Harbingers demand a 'tithe' of three unaltered residents for the Witch's latest seasonal experiment.

The 'Flower Girls' have blocked the main well, treating it as a bath and refusing to let anyone draw water unless they 'join the fun.'

Someone must investigate the Shifting Brook, where a shipment of rare 'Bitter Root'—essential for resisting the haze—has allegedly gone missing.
