Run of the Week

City of Shadizar, 1288

Urban pressure, Exploration focus

A brutal, pre-historic era with warring barbarian tribes, savage landscapes, ancient civilizations in decline, and a heavy emphasis on physical combat and violence, set in the ugly street-level reality of a vaguely eastern city. Mythical creatures and magic remain secondary to hunger, crime, and the edge of a blade.

World premise

A playable world seed with consequences.

In the stinking, winding alleys of Shadizar, spring of 1288 is not a season of renewal but a tightening noose. The City of Wickedness squats in the Zamorian hills like a bloated spider, its markets buzzing with desperate trade, its gutters running with blood and offal. Here, life is measured in copper coins, sharp glances, and the speed of a knife hand. Barbarian exiles rub shoulders with thieves and temple acolytes; the Merchant Princes of the Purple Tower hoard grain while the poor gnaw on stale crusts. Magic and myth are whispered things, real but distant; what matters today is where your next meal comes from, who owes you a favor, and whether the City Watch has decided to make an example of you. For those with sharp eyes and empty bellies, Shadizar itself is a maze to be explored: the hidden staircases, the roofless smuggler lanes, the dry gullies and abandoned shrines beyond the Eastern Gate. Survival in Shadizar is not a right—it is a craft, learned in the dark and paid for in scars.

Hunger is tightening daily margins across the Warrens and the Maul, and a copper coin now buys less than it did a month ago.

Local survival pressures are reshaping who can take risks and who cannot; the desperate grow bolder and the cautious grow poorer.

Authority, rumor, and household expectation all move faster than comfort allows—what you hear at dawn may be a death sentence by dusk.

Exploration is a double-edged opportunity: the same routes that bring trade also bring strangers, spies, and danger.
