The Derelict Cryopod, 2187

Waking to a sinking star

A damaged colony ship drifts in the oceanic expanse of a water world. The main character is revived from cryosleep to find the ship's systems failing, emergency lights flickering, and the remaining crew scattered or dead. Survival depends on salvaging resources, navigating hostile waters, and deciphering the ship's last automated logs.

World premise

A playable world seed with consequences.

You wake to the hum of failing systems and the dim pulse of emergency lights. The cryopod hisses open, releasing a cloud of frozen breath. Around you, rows of empty pods loom in the half-dark, their occupants long gone. The ship's metal groans under the weight of an alien ocean. Through a cracked viewport, you see only black water and distant, bioluminescent swirls. The air smells of ozone, rust, and stale recyclate. A datapad on the floor flickers with a single message: 'Bridge to Cryo Bay: Report if you can hear this.' The Nebula Ocean presses in from all sides, and the ship, once a colony ark, is now a drifting tomb of salvageable secrets.

Ration packs are running low, and the next supply drop from the surface outposts is uncertain.

Bridge Officers have called for all able-bodied survivors to assist in hull repairs before the next storm.

The Salvage Consortium is offering trade goods for anyone willing to dive into the flooded engineering bay.

A strange fungal growth is spreading in the living quarters, and some survivors fear it's toxic.
