World premise

A playable world seed with consequences.

The opening weeks find your fallen Norse house crowded into a rented room above a smithy in Jorvik's densest quarter. The ash of your old hall still seems to cling to your clothes, but here the only smoke that matters is from the cookfires of neighbors who owe you nothing. You have a name, a few rings, and enemies who are learning to smile in daylight. The city hums with trade and rumor, but every door seems to close a little tighter each day.

Rising hardship is tightening daily margins across Jorvik.

Local survival pressures are reshaping who can take risks and who cannot.

Authority, rumor, and household expectation are all moving faster than comfort allows.

Most openings depend on local trust, timing, and somebody else's favor.

The Wharves

Ships, crews, cargo, and the constant chance of a voyage or a drowning. The timber piers groan under the weight of barrels and bales, while river-thieves watch for a careless purse or an unattended crate.

authority

The Great Hall

Seat of the new ruler, where justice is bought and enemies are named. A longhouse of oak and ash, its doors open to petitioners but its favor is reserved for those who bring gifts or service.

market

Market Square

Noisy stalls and gossiping merchants, where a good name can still open doors. Everything from wool and wood to stolen relics changes hands here, and every transaction leaves a debt or a grudge.

urban

Smith Quarter

Workshops and cheap lodgings, full of craftsmen who need protection and orders. The clang of hammer on anvil never stops, and soot streaks every face. A skilled smith may be a friend or a threat, depending on your coin.

social

The Old Temple

A fading place of the Norse gods, where the few faithful gather to remember old customs. The priest keeps the flame low, and offerings are scarce. Some say the gods have turned their backs on Jorvik; others whisper that only blood can wake them.

residential

Hovel Lane

A tight lane of poor households where the family now lodges, packed with debts and rumor. Mud and refuse cling to every shoe, and the walls are thin enough to hear a cough through. Here, neighbors know your business before you do.
