A Kingdom in Decay, 1820

Frontier pressure, Politics focus

The Kingdom of Vaelor is decaying under a weak crown. Crime festers while the royal court struggles to maintain its grip. Born into a respectable middle-tier family, you possess a striking, exotic beauty from mixed blood. Now the castle has summoned you and a handful of others to compete for the crown prince's hand. This is not a chance for love—it is a political arena where ambition, rivalry, and the desperate need for legitimacy decide who survives. In a kingdom on the edge, your beauty is both a weapon and a liability.

World premise

A playable world seed with consequences.

The Kingdom of Vaelor was once strong, but decades of weak rule have left it frayed. The old king sits on a throne that no longer commands fear or respect, while the royal court focuses on ceremony and survival. Crime flourishes in the shadows, but the crown's greatest concern is its own fading legitimacy. You were born into a respectable middle-tier family in the capital, and your striking, exotic beauty—a gift of mixed heritage—has caught the attention of those who arrange such things. Now the castle has summoned you to compete in the selection for the crown princess, a ritual meant to show that the kingdom still has a future. For your family, it is a chance to rise; for the court, it is a piece of theater; for you, it is the most dangerous game you have ever entered. As the opening weeks begin, you must learn to read the court's hidden rules while every smile hides a knife of ambition.

The first court banquet is a minefield of introductions and subtle judgments.

Your family's hopes rest on your performance in the selection's early tests.

A rival candidate seems to know more about you than she should.

The crown prince's chambers are said to be open to private audiences—but at what cost?
